The Userthink team is a diverse group of people with complementary skill sets. We have more than 20 years experience in requirements management, usability, interface design, human factors, and marketing industries. The following selected examples of our collective projects span many industries and many client objectives, and are excellent illustrations of the services Userthink offers.

Although some of these projects were not clients of Userthink, one or more of our consultants either led the initiative or completed the initiative single-handedly. The companies and associated projects are listed here as a testament to our collective experience. This list is certainly not comprehensive, but a representative sample of our past work.
Userthink consultants created an intelligent tutoring system for the maintenance crew of the SH-60 (Seahawk) helicopter. We analyzed the cockpit and galley controls of the helicopter and met with top naval research scientists at the Office of Naval Research (ONR) in Washington, DC to gather requirements for this initiative. Based on our research, we designed a user interface mimicking the inside of the helicopter and developed the backend functionality to create an online H-60 helicopter simulator. Our consultants led a team of ten employees to design a successful computer-based tutor with intelligence to wrap around the simulator for use on laptops of naval personnel.

NDR’s  clients and sales staff were overwhelmed by the complexity of its web application. Clients often voiced that there was too much information within an unusable system.

Userthink was perfectly positioned to deliver best practices and a simplified user interface that delivered:
  •  An enhanced user experience
  •  More efficient organization
  •  Value-added research tools

Userthink was asked to transfer a robust AIX mainframe application using an Oracle database to a .NET application. Userthink gathered requirements for the new applications and aligned each with the company’s strategic objectives. Userthink then designed and developed a highly usable application using C#.Net 2.0 technology. The final outcome delivered a 80% efficiency improvement and a very happy client.

Userthink was asked to create icons for the new application and to create cascading style sheet templates to be used by the Polycom internal development team on a new piece of video conferencing software. Working closely with the product design group, Userthink created cascading style sheets to be used by the Polycom development team as templates for the application user interface. We also designed over 40 custom icons for use in their software product.

Working in conjunction with Creative Covergence, LLC., Userthink led the design effort for a web-based training application using WebDVD and touch screen technologies. The initiative required a high level of knowledge of training techniques and on-line tutoring. Our consultant is well versed in these areas, having earned a Master's degree in cognitive psychology with a specialization in training and on-line tutoring.

SpringCM already had an online documentation management system.  However, they began to receive customer complaints about its usability and SpringCM wanted to increase the functionality of the application.
Working closely with top stakeholders, Userthink gathered requirements and designed a robust and easy-to-use application.

Because of Userthink’s experience in developing usable applications with integrated tools such as Infragistics, Namescape challenged Userthink to design three innovative visual themes that were cutting edge and highly usable.

The client was overwhelmed with satisfaction when the product was delivered in half the anticipated timeframe.

MilitaryHire tasked Userthink with an expert usability evaluation of their site to identify opportunities to enhance the experience of their different user types. Userthink conducted heuristic evaluations from both the veteran’s and the employer’s perspectives, measuring the site’s compliance with usability metrics and best practices. We delivered a report identifying specific usability issues and recommended solutions, using their existing features and technology, to maximize the utility and usability of their site. MilitaryHire.com plans to implement Userthink’s recommendations within the next fiscal year.

Coca-Cola asked Userthink to help the product engineering group with a research endeavor. The research was centered on two different types of product display cases found in supermarkets and convenience stores. Working with the product engineering team and the marketing team at Coca-Cola, Userthink designed a study that would help Coca-Cola determine the best product for the right set of circumstances. The study will take place in Europe and the results will lead to the next generation of product display cases.
